on Pain"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In his first letter Peter writes to people facing significant pain.\u00a0 He wastes no time in bringing perspective to the pain we all experience in this life.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/jkitchen.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/02\/HeadInHands.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-thumbnail wp-image-223\" title=\"HeadInHands\" src=\"https:\/\/jkitchen.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/02\/HeadInHands-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><em>&#8220;In this you rejoice, though now for a little while, as was necessary, you have been grieved by various trials, so that the tested genuineness of your faith&#8211;more precious than gold that perishes though it is tested by fire&#8211;may be found to result in praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ.&#8221;<\/em> (1 Peter 1:6-7)<\/p>\n<p>He reminds us our suffering is \u2026<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Passing<\/span> <\/span><\/strong>\u2013 \u201cnow for a little while\u201d (v.6a)<\/li>\n<li><strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Purposeful<\/span> <\/span><\/strong>\u2013 \u201cas was necessary \u2026 so that the tested genuineness of your faith \u2026 may be found to result in praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ\u201d (vv.6b, 7a, c)<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Painful<\/span> <\/strong><\/span>\u2013 \u201cyou have been grieved by various trials\u201d (v.6c)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>This proves that an accurate perspective has a wide enough view to acknowledge both the reality and gravity of pain, and yet also embrace the hope of God&#8217;s grace.\u00a0 Indeed, by God\u2019s wonderful grace Peter affirms that we share in, experience, and anticipate the fullness of a salvation which 1) prophets searched for, inquired into, and longed to understand (v.10-12a) and which 2) angels \u201clong to look\u201d into
