I saw Jesus today, moving among the crowd,

His heart was breaking, His head was bowed.

He walked silently, assessing their need,

His voice was lifted and could be heard to plead,

“Father, who will go, whom shall I send?

Won’t even one go with Me and to their needs tend?

Just one to go where I go, to see as I see,

to pray as I am praying and do as I have done?”

I saw Jesus today, treading where the crowds meet.

He walked silently upon His followers’ feet.

His heart broke through theirs, His hands moved through them,

He spoke through their words as they lifted this hymn,

“Father, I’ll go and keep going, but whom else will You send?

Will no one go with me and to their needs tend?

Someone to go where I’ve gone, to see as I’ve seen,

to pray as I am praying and to do as I have done?”
